Spicy Sausage & Honey Pizza
My new weeknight fixation — the mix of hot Italian sausage and honey just belong together. Cast iron gives you that perfect crispy crust every time.

Ingredients
- 16 oz pizza dough, room temperature
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded or torn
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 links hot Italian sausage, casings removed
- Honey, for drizzling
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 500°F (or as high as it goes). Place a 12-inch cast iron skillet in the oven while it preheats.
- 2
In a separate pan over medium-high heat, break up the sausage meat and cook until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
- 3
Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven. Add olive oil and swirl to coat the bottom and sides.
- 4
Stretch the dough to fit the skillet, pressing it up the sides slightly. Spread the tomato sauce evenly, leaving a small border.
- 5
Scatter the minced garlic over the sauce, then add the mozzarella and top with the browned sausage.
- 6
Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling with spots of brown.
- 7
Remove from oven and immediately drizzle generously with honey. Garnish with fresh parsley and red pepper flakes if desired.
Tips
Let your dough come to room temperature before stretching — cold dough fights back. The honey drizzle at the end is essential — it balances the heat from the sausage perfectly.
